Giovanni van Bronckhorst reveals further Alfredo Morelos talks planned on Rangers future

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will sit down with Alfredo Morelos again next week to discuss his Rangers future.

Morelos was left out over fitness and attitude concerns just days after picking up a red card against Hibs, which rules him out of this weekend's meeting with Ross Count, and Van Bronckhorst said: “Alfredo Morelos will not be involved in the squad for Ross County and I will then sit down with him next week and have a discussion. The players who played on Wednesday are all keen to play again, we will play with a strong eleven and we have a really strong squad for the game.

"I sat down with hi before we went to Eindhoven. If Alfredo wants to come back, he needs to do things differently. That's what he's doing at the moment and for me, it's a case of sitting with him in the next few days and talk about his future. He still has a future with us, he's still a Rangers player so as a manager I have to make sure we get him back to the levels we need and I know he can get to."

Meanwhile, van Bronckhorst is delighted with Rangers' Champions League draw. The Dutchman won the Champions League as a player with Barcelona and now wants to make an impact in this season’s competition as Ibrox boss after they were drawn in a glamour group with Premier League giants Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax which will again see him return home to Holland.

“I’m looking forward to all of the Champions League games," he said. "I’m happy with the draw and we can play some great games against tough opponents. It will be great to travel to Anfield and the Diego Maradona Stadium and the home games will also be fantastic. Six great games.

“We have built this squad to be competitive in domestic competition but also for the Champions League. I’m really happy with how my squad is looking. It is great for our development to play against really good opposition.”

And Van Bronckhorst - who is without Glen Kamara for Saturday’s game. also revealed Alex Lowry is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he was crocked in a ‘B’ team game - added: “Champions League is the biggest club competition there is. Liverpool have been competing in the final. Ajax have been dominating in Holland and Napoli is also a great team."

Kamara is out of the weekend clash and Lowry, who hasn’t been featuring for the first team, is sidelined after he suffered an injury following a crude challenge during a midweek clash against Dumbarton. Van Bronckhorst said: “Lowry will be some weeks out with injury. Kamara had some problems with his knee and will not be in the squad.”
