Cornwall's best known pastymaker has turned gourmet and won over foodies with its posh pasties.
Ginsters called on Michelin star chef Chris Eden - who has just taken the helm at the kitchen at Gidleigh Park in Devon - to create its Chicken, Chorizo & Cornish Gouda Pasty, which has scooped gold at the Taste of the West Awards.
And the Ginsters Cornish Handcrafted Cornish Pasty has been commended by the judges.
It is part of the all-new Cornish Handcrafted range by the Callington- based bakery – the most luxurious pasties it has ever made.
Ginsters’ Managing Director Kieran Hemsworth, said: “We’ve been baking pasties in Cornwall for half a century, so to be recognised at Taste of the West, which shines the spotlight specifically on our home region, is a true honour.”
Taste of the West champions food and drink producers in the West Country, promoting and supporting the very best in local food and drink made in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.
The accolades come hot on the heels of Ginsters’ recent success at the 2019 British Pie Awards, which saw the nation’s favourite pasty maker take home a staggering four awards including Gold for its Cornish Handcrafted Chicken, Chorizo & Cornish Gouda Pasty and Silver for its Cornish Handcrafted Cornish Pasty – proving the new premium range is a hit amongst pastry connoisseurs around the country.
Coinciding with Ginsters’ 50 anniversary – baking in Cornwall since 1969 – the Cornish Handcrafted range has been developed by Ginsters’ development chefs in collaboration with Mr Eden.
