Family Fortunes is set to make a comeback to television after an 18-year hiatus and Gino D'Acampo is going to be the new presenter.
The much loved Italian television chef, 43, is taking the lead in the revamped television show and will welcome members of the public to be contestants later this year.
In the classic show, two families competed against each other to provide answers to a series of questions that had been asked to a larger group.
It has been almost two decades since the original show, that featured the general public instead of celebrities, has been on TV.
Throughout the years, Family Fortunes has seen a host of presenters such as Bob Monkhouse and Les Dennis.
The much-loved game show had been a popular family favourite and was aired for over 20 series.
Since then, there has been a celebrity 'All Star' revival of the show which was presented by Vernon Kay.
An ITV insider explained to The Sun that telly bosses had been eager to bring the show back on air.
“Family Fortunes is one of TV’s most-loved formats and ITV have been looking at when it might be right to bring it back," the source said.
“After a successful pilot earlier this year, they’re putting it back on primetime where it belongs."
Gino, who rose to fame thanks to his culinary skills and energetic personality, is reportedly close to finalising the new TV job.
The source added: "Gino is all but signed and they think he will bring his own unique brand of enthusiasm and charisma to the show.”
Fans of the original show have been calling for Family Fortunes to return for years, with many asking Les Dennis to come back too.
After learning of the news that the game show is finally having a revival, one fan said: "I like family fortunes but Gino as host? Keep it."
Gino was meant to be heading to Asia later this year as part of a culinary road trip with Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix.
Although their plans were halted because of the pandemic, it looks like the telly chef has some new television endeavours to look forward to.
