Gino D'Acampo announces launch date for new Birmingham restaurant

Celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo has announced the launch date for his new restaurant in Birmingham city centre.

Called 'My Restaurant', the Italian venue will open in the former Allied Irish Bank building in Temple Row on October 31.

The restaurant will have 165 covers, a 25-metre long cocktail bar, open kitchen, deli bar and private dining while a second phase of redevelopment will see a new sky bar and restaurant added.

My Restaurant will also provide its own delivery service.

Mr D'Acampo said: "I want to open restaurants in the coolest cities in the UK so I am super excited to be opening in such a great location in Birmingham. It took me years to find the perfect site.

"People here love to dress up and go out and I'm excited to welcome them personally to My Restaurant."

The first Gino D'Acampo My Restaurant opened in Manchester in 2015 before expanding with new sites in Yorkshire and Liverpool.

In Birmingham, it will be vying for custom from Temple Row neighbours The Ivy and Fumo and a host of other nearby bars and restaurants in what has become a thriving area for the city's evening economy.

Confirmation of the opening date brings to an end months of speculation over the project after it was first announced in February 2018 that the TV chef was eyeing the former bank site.

The company is also planning to launch further My Restaurant sites across the UK and possibly also abroad.
