Gini Wijnaldum says Liverpool teammates have a "greedy" problem during slump in form

Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum believes the Reds aren't "greedy" enough to score goals at the moment.

The Premier League champions' alarming slump reached a new low on Thursday night when they went down 1-0 at home to Burnley, losing a Premier League game at Anfield for the first time since April 2017.

Wijnaldum was Liverpool's captain for the night, but the Dutchman lamented the failings in attack which have seen the Reds now fail to score in their last four Premier League matches.

"[Burnley was] a really tough one," Wijnaldum told Sky Sports.

"Before the game we had good intentions to play against Burnley. We wanted to play good possession play.

"We created enough to score a goal but unfortunately we couldn't. We were not sharp enough and they got the penalty."

Ashley Barnes scored from the spot after the forward had been tripped by goalkeeper Alisson, with the Reds now winless in five league games since beating Crystal Palace 7-0 at Selhurst Park before Christmas.

Liverpool have scored just one goal in those five games, and Wijnaldum says they are having real issues in front of goal.

"We 100 per cent had chances," he added.

"Now in the situation we are in we are struggling to score. It is difficult to explain.

"People from outside will say we don't have confidence. I still think we do.

"You shoot against the keeper and a lot of chances we get, we are not 100 per cent greedy to score a goal.

"We have to keep on going. We have to not think about a tricky moment but perform.

"The next game is Manchester United and we have to try and win it."
