Gini Wijnaldum injury latest as Liverpool midfielder hopes for Club World Cup final appearance

Gini Wijnaldum will be given every chance to be available for Liverpool's FIFA Club World Cup final.

And for the showdown against Brazilian side Flamengo here in Doha on Saturday.

Wijnaldum has yet to train with the rest of the Liverpool squad after Jurgen Klopp chose to bring him to Qatar despite the midfielder suffering a muscle injury in the win over Watford last weekend .

The Dutchman was again absent from main , although it later emerged he had a separate session.

Van Dijk, meanwhile, trained fully for the first time this week having missed the semi-final win over Mexican team Monterrey on Wednesday through illness.

Asked about the availability of the Holland duo, Klopp said: “We will see.

“Virg was part of training today, Gini had a session today. We will see how it will look in the end.

“We have no new injury concerns. It was Wednesday when we played and now it is Friday.

“We use each hour for recovery so that is what we did. We will see who can line up tomorrow.”

With Van Dijk absent, Jordan Henderson deputised as an emergency centre-back alongside Joe Gomez in midweek.
