Gini Wijnaldum breaks his silence on leaving Liverpool

Gini Wijnaldum has all but confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of his contract this summer.

The Dutchman captained the Reds on what could be his final appearance at home to Crystal Palace as Jurgen Klopp 's men looked to secure a top four finish in the Premier League.

And speaking ahead of the game, the midfielder confirmed he is currently set to leave the club.

He said: "As it looks right now, it is (goodbye). The club and I didn't agree to a new contract.

"If you look at the facts, from the first of July my contract is over."

Liverpool boss Klopp paid tribute to Wijnaldum in his programme notes ahead of the game.

And when asked by Sky Sports if he had seen what his manager had said, the Dutchman admitted it will be an emotional afternoon for him at Anfield as he returned the favour.

"He said to me, when we had a walk, 'Did you see the programme?' I said no.

"He said, 'Do you ever read the programme?' I said barely not. I look at the pictures in the programme but barely read it! He told me he said something so I will read it after the game.

"The relationship the manager and I have is a really good one. I think the best one I have had with a manager so far so I think it will be emotional."
