From Sunbeams book series 24: more adventures of Ginger Meggs, 1947.

Ginger Meggs is Australia’s most popular and longest running comic strip. Created by James ‘Jimmy’ Bancks, he first appeared in the Sydney Sunday Sun newspaper in 1921. Based on Bancks’s best friend who lived in an inner suburban working-class household, Ginge was recognisable for his red hair, larrikin charms and ability to get himself in and out of trouble, and he and his gang, including his girlfriend Minnie Peters and arch nemesis Tiger Kelly, have been a part of Australian culture ever since.

Today Ginger Meggs is Australia’s most widely syndicated cartoon, appearing in over 120 newspapers over 34 countries. The Museum of Sydney exhibit original strips by Bancks and his four successors.
