Gimme him: One player Titans would steal from Colts

On the last edition of “Swipe a Colt,” I selected inside linebacker Darius Leonard for the Tennessee Titans’ hypothetical benefit. And, after much deliberation, I’ve decided to stay on the defensive side of the ball — in solidarity — for episode two.

Colts defensive lineman, DeForest Buckner, is not only an animal in the trenches, but he is “old reliable,” as well. Buckner will make his 70th consecutive start on Sunday against the Titans, tied for the highest mark among defensive tackles.

Availability is of paramount importance in the National Football League, and Buckner knows how to string games together.

What a force it would be: Buckner lined up next to Titans defensive lineman, Jeffery “Big Jeff’ Simmons. Both players are in the top 10 at their respective positions and own their teams’ highest marks per Pro Football Focus.

The Colts acquired Buckner via trade from the San Francisco 49ers in mid-March, in exchange for the No. 13 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Sure, the Colts had to pony up a new contract, but the former Oregon Duck was worth every penny.

Through 10 games in 2020, Buckner has 24 solo tackles, one forced fumble, 32 total pressures, and three sacks.
