Giltbrook mum can now wear her engagement ring again after shedding nearly six stone

A Giltbrook woman said she was "fed up of feeling like the biggest mum in the playground" as she shed nearly six stone in less than a year.

Jo Hine can now wear her engagement ring again after her weight loss which was achieved through more exercise and a better diet.

The 37-year-old mum-of-two started going to WW in February 2019 weighing 17 stone 11lbs.

She has lost an incredible 82lbs so far and now has more energy and confidence in herself.

"I was fed up of feeling like the biggest mum in the playground, I want to spend quality time with my family," said Jo, who has worked as a pharmacy technician at Nottingham City Hospital for 20 years.

"I have more energy, more confidence and feel like I am a better version of myself. I have more energy for my kids being able to run around with them but also having time for myself is also been good for my wellbeing."

Before starting her weight loss, Jo would snack regularly in the day alongside her three meals a day and would not think about extras she was having in her diet.

Over the last year or so, she has usually kicked her day off with fat-free yoghurt, porridge oats and fruit.

Lunch will usually involve scrambled or poached eggs on a Warburtons thin with smoked salmon.

And for dinner she will usually have salmon or chicken with potatoes and large portions of vegetables.

Alongside her improved diet, Jo now walks her children, Ruby, eight and Luke, five, to school and goes out with them on bike rides.

She has also taken up regular swimming.

"It's a combination of an improved diet, more exercise, but I think the most important factor is the mindset. You've got to really want to do it," she added.

"I still treat myself to things occasionally like chocolate. You can focus on other things such as mindset, rather than just a number on a set of scales.

"All those things that add up to being a better version of yourself and made me realise its not a ‘diet’, it’s a way of life. That would be my advice to people."

On being able to wear her engagement ring again, Jo said: "It was a lovely feeling. I have been married to Mark for 11 years now and I hadn't been able to wear the ring since my daughter was born.

"It's been around six or seven years."

Joanne attends Sally Severn’s Ilkeston Arena Church WW workshop and wants to hit her target of losing seven stone in total.
