Gilmerton incident: street taped off and Edinburgh man rushed to hospital after 'attempted murder'

Emergency services raced to an incident that is being treated as an 'attempted murder' in Gilmerton in the early hours of Saturday morning, after a man was seriously assaulted.

Police confirmed that they attended Ravenscroft Street at around 1.45am on Saturday, where the 55-year-old man sustained 'serious injuries.'

The man was taken to Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary where he remains in a stable condition after the assault.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.45am on Saturday, 12 September, police received reports of a serious assault on Ravenscroft Street in Edinburgh.

“Officers attended and a 55-year-old man was found to have suffered serious injuries, he was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he remains in a stable condition.

“Enquiries into the incident, which is being treated as attempted murder, are ongoing".
