Gillo community going to be 'loving it' with McDonald's approved

Gillieston Heights community will be 'loving it' with plans for a McDonald's fast food restaurant approved by Maitland City Council.

The development will see the construction of a 88 capacity dining room as well as a dual lane drive thru, playground, McCafe and parking.

A statement of environment effects, prepared by Elton Consulting, said a number of issues were raised over the proposal plans for the fast food restaurant - which will operate 24 hours, seven day a week.

"The potential impacts relating to light, noise, crime prevention, social and economic impacts, visual impacts can be managed and mitigated through design, operational protocols, and opportunities made available to the site," it read.

"The proposed McDonald's operation brings to the neighbour centre a well-known, established food and beverage operator that anchors the corner site for long-term operation."

There are approximately 985 McDonald's operations Australia wide, the majority of which are either owned or operated by members of the local business community.

The fast food restaurant is one of five other non-residential business uses (childcare, pharmacy, mixed retail and supermarket) for the Gillieston Heights site.
