Gillian Anderson joins stars taking to Park Theatre stage in 'unrehearsed' charity play

She's had plenty of sleuthing experience on the small screen and now Gillian Anderson is turning detective on stage to solve a theatrical murder mystery.

The actress, who was Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson in The Fall, and the FBI’s Dana Scully in The X-Files, is joining stars including Homeland actor Damian Lewis, Joanna Lumley and Jim Broadbent, taking turns to play a sleuth at the Park Theatre.

The actors all appear as the inspector in Whodunnit [Unrehearsed] and will be sent on stage without a script to join the rest of the cast and identify the killer. The show, which features the voices of Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Judi Dench, runs from July 15 to July 27, with all money raised going towards the theatre’s running costs.

Anderson, currently on stage in the West End in All About Eve, said: “I’m performing at the Park Theatre to help raise funds for the charity. With no public subsidy, they need to fundraise over £250,000 a year just to keep the doors open.”

The guest stars, who also include Catherine Tate, John Bishop, Tim Vine and Ronan Keating, will be in the dark about the plot but equipped with a hidden earpiece so they can receive instructions.

The identity of the detective for each show will be revealed on the night at the theatre in Finsbury Park.
