Gil Brandt says Patriots, Bills, Saints should go after A.J. Green

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has said the team won’t move star wideout A.J. Green.

Green himself has said he’s pretty much ready for whatever happens.

Until the October 29 trade deadline passes, speculation isn’t going to stop.

Over at NFL.com, well-known analyst Gil Brandt sketched out an idea of the contenders that should be just fine with a Green rental via trade: the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.

Some of these aren’t a shock. Those Patriots were more than happy to roll the dice on Antonio Brown. Green is an easy ask. The Saints anticipate the return of Drew Brees and Green would be silly on the same field as Michael Thomas.

The inclusion of the Bills was perhaps most interesting:

Adding a savvy, reliable veteran who has far more career 20-yard receptions (118) than Brown (45) and Beasley (27) combined would certainly help the development of young QB Josh Allen. Plus, as a bonus, the Bills would be preventing Green from going to the Patriots.

Funnily enough, the Bills and Bengals seem to have a pretty good friendship in recent years.

Again, the Bengals dealing Green has never been overly likely. He’s made that clear. So has Mike Brown. But things also change in a matter of minutes in the NFL these days, so if something happens, these might be some of the teams to keep in mind.
