The Internet was sent into overdrive on Wednesday when rumours started circulating of Gigi Hadid's pregnancy with on-off boyfriend, Zayn Malik.
The couple - along with the rest of Hadid's family - celebrated her 25th birthday at her family home in Pennsylvania the weekend before, which set tongues wagging after eagle-eyed fans spotted baby girl-themed paraphernalia in photos shared to social media of the celebration.
A matter of days later and Hadid's mum Yolanda appeared to confirm the news to Dutch broadcasting station RTL Boulevard, where she asserted her excitement about the news.
“I can't wait to become a grandmother,” she said. “It is quite special since I lost my own mother so recently. That is the beauty of life: one soul is leaving us and another is coming. We feel very blessed.”

Yet still, Hadid and Malik had not commented on the rumours themselves. That is until yesterday when 25-year-old Hadid appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (which is being filmed virtually) and confirmed the news.
“Obviously we wish we could have announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support,” she said.
She added that “it’s a nice silver lining” to be pregnant during lockdown with Malik and “really experience it day by day”.
Hadid, the daughter of former model Yolanda and property developer Mohammed, has been a firm fixture on the fashion scene since her first runway appearance, which was for Desigual in 2014 when she was just 18 years old.

The Dutch-Palestinian model has even almost broken the record for the most Vogue covers ever, with 35 under her belt to date (Lauren Hutton currently holds the title with 40.) While in lockdown, her and her sister Bella have even flexed their creative muscles, as they shared self-styled photoshoots of themselves in lockdown as part of a new series introduced by American Vogue.
Indeed, both on and off the catwalk, Hadid has shown herself to be quite the fashionista. After securing her first modelling contract aged two for Guess Baby, she rapidly grew to embrace her all-American style, with her bleached locks, perma-tan, and sunny dispositiion.
Hadid, who in recent years has showcased a slightlier edgier look, particularly for red carpet events, relies on stylist Mimi Cuttrell to keep her on-trend. Cuttrell and Hadid knew each other through family friends in Santa Barbara and started working together after Cuttrell helped Gigi style an outfit back in 2016. Hadid posted the image to her Instagram, with the hashtag "styledbyMiGi." The rest, as they say, is history.
Cuttrell has been credited as the person who's pushed Hadid's style out of its comfort zone - see that footed Versace catsuit she wore to the CFDA Awards in 2018 for proof.
Hadid's baby is, according to Yolanda, due in September so, as she continues to hunker down in lockdown, we can only hope we catch a glimmer as to how she styles out her pregnancy.
