Gigi Hadid celebrated her first Mother’s Day in the US yesterday with a series of emotional tributes to the women in her family – and also introduced a message to her baby daughter, Khai.
Gigi posted an throwback photo of her Dutch mother Yolanda on Yolanda’s wedding day, standing together with Gigi’s grandmother and great-grandmother, and captioned it: “Liife ! Miracles! MOTHERS!
"Cheers to our angels above & to you @yolanda.hadid, the most inspiring mama and best Oma {Dutch for grandma] we could ever ask for! We love you more than words. Eternally grateful."
She then added two more pictures of herself cuddling baby Khai, now aged seven months, and another of her pushing Khai in her pram.
Gigi's next post was a shot of mother and baby in matching outfits, and an adorable image of them resting nose to nose. Gigi said: "The rumors are true: my best friend, purpose, muse, greatest pride & joy! I feel so lucky and inspired bein your mama, my Khai !!
"An old soul full of sunshine, you light up everyone’s days! Thank you thank you thank you."
Americans and Canadians traditionally celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May, whereas in Britain it’s the fourth Sunday during Lent and changes each year.
Gigi was named International Model of the Year in 2016 and has been on the cover of Vogue magazine more than 30 times.
The LA-born supermodel, whose real first name is Jelena, has been in a relationship with former One Direction star Zayn Malik since 2015.
The couple confirmed her pregnancy last year and Gigi gave birth to their Khai in September, while isolating on a farm in Pennsylvania, USA.
