Gigi Hadid Proves Burnt Orange Isn’t Just a Trend but the Unexpected, Must-Have Hue Every Designer Swears By for Seasonal Decor (Indoors and Out)

Gigi Hadid.

Traditionally, you might not consider orange to be the most versatile color, but think about it: this warming hue fits into practically any seasonal design scheme, from fall pumpkin spice-inspired living rooms to sunny summer patios.

Gigi Hadid has combined both sensibilities with her cozy, fall/winter-esque patio, as seen on her Instagram page. The model's wood chair features small, burnt orange cushions (like this beautiful option from H&M), which pair perfectly with the natural materials and larger, greige cushions. It's giving us some excellent orange decor ideas.

This variation of the color is all the proof we need that orange can and should be used to accessorize furniture, as it brings a welcoming and elevated aesthetic to any space, indoors or out, and designers agree it's a seasonal color staple.

Design experts say that earthier oranges are fantastic color picks for the fall and winter months, and the benefits go beyond visual pleasure.

'The move toward earthy tones like pumpkin spice isn’t just about aesthetics; it also brings real psychological and physiological benefits,' explains Andrew Seed, managing director of The Odd Company and an interior trends expert. 'These natural shades, unlike bright or artificial colors, have a calming effect on the mind, helping to reduce stress and mental stimulation at the end of the day.'

He continues, 'When working with orange, balance is key. You don’t need to overhaul your entire décor to introduce pumpkin spice tones.'

Gigi's patio furniture is a perfect example of this sentiment, with the two orange cushions serving as accent pieces, rather than overpowering the space. However, a bold, orange accessory, like this striped outdoor rug (like this one from Amazon, can instantly brighten up the most neutral of patios.

Andrew also recommends opting for natural materials to complement an earthy orange: think linen and cotton.

'The pumpkin spice trend is about moving closer to nature, so forgo strict, cubist lines in favour of softer waves and curves,' he states. 'This look should feel effortless and organic, with a sense of continuous flow rather than rigidity. Think rounded tables, and circular design features that echo the gentle shapes found in nature.'
