Victoria’s Secret has confirmed Gigi Hadid for its 20th anniversary show next month with a clip of the moment Ed Razek invites her to join the star-studded cast.
“What are you doing on November 9th and 10th? Why don’t you come and join” the lingerie label's boss is heard saying in the video which was shared with the brand's 24 million Instragram followers.
This year's catwalk returns to its home in New York and will see the biggest model parade of the lingerie extravaganza's history after last month it announced 10 new Angels in the unveiling of the 2015 cast to walk catwalk in New York on 10 November.
The 20-year-old model shared the news, too, with her over seven million followers on Instagram. “Couldn't keep back my tears!!!! Anyone that grew up with me knows that getting this show has been a dream of mine forever!” she posted.
Indeed, when I interviewed Hadid last year for her Pirelli Calendar debut, she said that being part of the lingerie extravaganza would be a dream come true, but that we wouldn't see her in the 2014 London show. A year later, however, she’ll be sharing the catwalk with veteran Angels Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and Behati Prinsloo.
Although she won’t be given the Angel wings just yet, it’s her first foot at the door of her dream job.
Hadid, who’s best friends with Kendall Jenner and daughter of reality TV star Yolanda Foster, has appeared on some of the most acticipated fashion week shows for the last two years, walking for names of the likes of Balmain, Diane Von Furstansberg and Giambattista Valli.
Most recently she made the headlines for hitting back at harsh critics towards her body image. "Yes, I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I'm not asking for special treatment. I'm fitting into sample sizes. Your mean comments don't make me want to change my body," she said in a lengthy statement she posted on social media.
