Giggs at Glastonbury 2010

Who: Giggs.

Where and when: Dance East. 5.30pm Saturday.

Dress code: If you're in Giggs's posse then you're wearing a T-shirt that says Let Em Have It. Yes, you're wearing it, even if it looks like it was made at home using a marker pen.

What happened: The feared Giggs, an MC whose debut album will seek to launch him as a rapper of international repute, brought his tales of death and gunfire to sunny Pilton. Realising this may not have made ideal festival fodder, Giggs also attempted to turn on the charm. This, however, was only partially successful.

Who's watching: A subtle shift in the gender balance of the audience means that what was formerly a rather evenly split crowd suddenly has a lot less oestrogen in the mix.

High point: Recent release Look What the Cat Dragged In has anthemic qualities and Neptunes-ish production. Elsewhere, Giggs thrilled fans by hurling free CDs at their heads.

Low point: There wasn't really one clear moment, but an abiding sense persisted that there was something of a gap between the character in Giggs's lyrics and the person standing in front of the crowd.

In a tweet: The baddest man in south London tries to make nice, but no one quite believes him.
