The box set shift has begun.
With more and more music fans subscribing to music streaming services that put millions of songs at their fingertips, record labels are now looking for new ways to persuade fans to purchase a box set.
Garth Brooks is packaging his new album with his new box set. Steve Vai reworked previously unreleased songs to create a whole new album to go with the 25th anniversary reissue of his "Passion and Warfare" album. And Bob Dylan is collecting various audio and video sources to chronicle a single year of his Nobel Prize-winning career for the first time.
Here's a look at some of the season's most interesting sets:
LOU REED, 'THE RCA & ARISTA ALBUM COLLECTION' (17 CDs, Legacy)
WHAT'S IN IT? The set collects the solo work of Reed, from his eponymous solo debut in 1972 to "Mistrial" in 1986. Reed supervised the remastering of the albums, including classics like "Transformer" and "Berlin," before his death in 2013 and called it his last project, according to Hal Willner, Reed's longtime friend who co-produced the collection.
EXTRAS: An 80-page book of memorabilia from Reed's personal archives, including rarely seen photos and artwork, five 8-by-10-inch prints and a reproduction of a rare RCA promotional poster.

BOB DYLAN, 'THE 1966 LIVE RECORDINGS' (36 CDs, Legacy)
WHAT'S IN IT? Recordings from every concert on Dylan's landmark 1966 tour, including his Feb. 26 appearance at Island Garden arena in West Hempstead. Each concert, from the period that brought the "Bringing It All Back Home," "Highway 61 Revisited" and "Blonde on Blonde" albums _ is constructed from either soundboard recordings, audience tapes or the CBS Records mobile recordings.

The remastered version of his legendary "Passion and Warfare" album released in 1991, as well as the previously unreleased "Modern Primitive" album, based on songs recorded before "Passion and Warfare." WHAT'S IN IT? Brooks' new album "Gunslinger," featuring the new single "Baby, Let's Lay Down and Dance," a two-disc package of live songs, including "New York State of Mind" with Billy Joel, and seven CDs that place his back catalog in new contexts, like "Midnight Fire" or "Cowboys."
EXTRAS: The Target version of the set includes a new version of "Friends in Low Places" that includes George Strait, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line.

WHAT'S IN IT? To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the debut album of the Rock and Roll of Hall of Famers from Queens, this boxed set includes a remastered version of the 29-minute masterpiece, which includes "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," in stereo and in mono on CD, and a mono version on vinyl. There is also a CD with two sets of material from the band's shows at The Roxy in West Hollywood on Aug. 12, 1976.
