The Chargers suffered their biggest loss of the season on Thursday night to the Raiders, diminishing a good chunk of their playoff hopes. But after a slate of games on Sunday, those aspirations are suddenly revived.
We put out a rooting guide prior to the games, and nearly all of the games went in Los Angeles’ favor.
Most notably, the Kansas City Chiefs were downed by the Tennessee Titans as kicker Harrison Butker’s game-tying field goal was blocked. The loss puts the Chargers only two games out of first place of the AFC West.
In a similar fashion to the Chiefs and Titans, the Cleveland Browns took out the Buffalo Bills after kicker Stephen Hauschka missed the game-tying field goal to take the contest to overtime. The loss to the Bills helped with the Wild Card situation.
Another miracle occurred as the Miami Dolphins upset the Indianapolis Colts, putting their record at 5-4.
After today, the division and Wild Card are wide open. The Chargers control their own destiny and it all starts with getting hot next Monday night against the Chiefs.
