Gift collection platform GiftRound has added an extra layer of security to ensure that the money raised through an “electronic whip round” ends up safely in the hands of the recipient.
The five year old company has strengthened its partnership with its payment infrastructure provider Mangopay “to offer a seamless payment experience for users.”
GiftRound allows groups to organise group gift collections electronically for recipients such work colleagues, children’s teachers or newlyweds without any cash being handled. It also has an online “store” allowing physical gifts to be purchased.
So far it has processed around 75,000 pots of money totalling more than £10.5 million using the Mangopay technology, which ensure the security of money collection, fraud prevention and anti-money laundering.
Now GiftRound will also use Mangopay’s e-wallet modular technology, adding a further layer of protection and security ahead of the dispersing of funds. It will provide flexible and scalable pay-in and pay-out capabilities critical for the platform.

GiftRound plans to launch in Ireland also using Mangopay’s payment capabilities.
