Giffnock takeaway Clay Oven broken into overnight

The Clay Oven takeaway in Giffnock has been broken into, the latest Glasgow business to be looted during the coronavirus lockdown.

Owners witnessed the damaged to the Fenwick Road premises today (Saturday), after it was broken into last night.

They say thankfully no valuables were left in the south side takeaway, however the thieves made off with the charity box.

Clay Oven took to Facebook to say: "Last night we had a break in, smashed door glass, damaged door and took the charity box away.

"In these challenging times this is the last thing we need, luckily we don’t keep any valuables at the premises.

"There has been a few other incidents reported in the G46 area."

As it stands, Clay Oven is still open serving takeaway meals, with social distancing measures in place.

Yesterday, Glasgow Live reported on two seperate break-ins, at the Mini Grill in Glasgow city centre, and at Same Same Restaurant at St George's Cross.

Police Scotland were contacted for comment following the latest incident, however it had not been reported at the time of writing.
