Giddy Ryan Tubridy laughs his way through hilarious story about quarantine on RTE

Ryan Tubridy laughed his way through a hilarious quarantine story on his RTE radio show this morning.

The Late Late Show host was reading out the tale to his listeners about a man in Taiwan who broke quarantine for eight seconds.

And, while you might not expect that to be treated too seriously, this poor man received a hefty fine.

A chuckling Tubridy said: "Local news about a fella' in Taiwan, it says there's no five second rule for quarantine in Taiwan.

"The authorities there have fined a man who broke the quarantine for eight seconds, eight seconds he broke his quarantine and they were all over him.

"You know in Ireland it's 'go on, go on I didn't see you', in Taiwan it's eight seconds and bang €3,000 he was fined after his misdeeds were caught.

"It was a hotel surveillance camera, and then it was reported. He arrived in this particular city and he broke their strict 14-day quarantine exiting his hotel room to leave something outside the door of a friend who was quarantining in the same hotel.

"Then, bang €3,000."

The story, which is sure to have amused many at home, came after Tubs discussed the vaccine situation here in Ireland.

The broadcaster said it was a day of "hope" with normality feeling only a mile away compared to thousands of miles just a few weeks ago.
