Giants will re-sign DB Antonio Hamilton

Prior to the start of free agency, New York Giants general manager opted not to tender restricted free agent (RFA) defensive back Antonio Hamilton.

At the time, it seemed as if the Giants intended to move on from Hamilton, but that proved not to be the case.

On Thursday evening, the Giants re-sign Hamilton on a one-year deal.

An undrafted free agent out of South Carolina State in 2016, Hamilton played sparingly for the Oakland Raiders as a rookie. He spent eight weeks on short-term injured reserve (IR) in 2017 with a knee injury before being claimed off of waivers by the Giants in September 2018.

In 13 games for the Giants last season, Hamilton, who played primarily on special teams, recorded six tackles (five solo) before landing on season-ending injured reserve (IR) with a quad injury.

Hamilton was arguably the MVP of a special teams unit that was vastly improved in 2019.
