Giants’ Wayne Gallman, Olsen Pierre clear concussion protocol

Following a Friday afternoon practice, New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said that while running back Wayne Gallman and defensive lineman Olsen Pierre had been participating on a limited basis, the duo had yet to clear concussion protocol and were scheduled to meet with an independent neurological consultant.

That left the possibility for each player to sit out in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals. but unlike wide receiver Sterling Shepard who is still out with a concussion, the Giants received good news on Gallman and Pierre.

Both have been cleared, removed from concussion protocol and are expected to play against Arizona on Sunday.

Gallman will return to his backup role now that fellow running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) has also been cleared to play, while Pierre will serve as a backup defensive lineman alongside R.J. McIntosh.

Expect both players to be active and see the field at times in Week 7.
