Giants waive Kyle Lauletta after failing to secure a trade

With Saturday representing the final day for NFL teams to trim their roster to 53, the New York Giants made a bit of a surprising move by trimming the quarterback position.

The Giants waived Kyle Lauletta, which comes less than one year after they selected him in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Before waiving Lauletta, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman reportedly tried to trade him and had no takers.

Lauletta is the first draft pick of Gettleman’s on the Giants that he is cutting ties with. However, given his strong preseason, Lauletta shouldn’t have trouble finding work in the league.

Lauletta went 37-of-62 with 453 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions during the preseason for the Giants and had the game-winning touchdown to Alonzo Russell this past week against the New England Patriots.
