Giants vs. Vikings: NFL experts make Week 5 picks

The New York Giants (2-2) will host the Minnesota Vikings (2-2) at MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they look to go over .500 for the first time in nearly three years.

Opening the week, the Giants were listed as 4.5-point home underdogs and it’s only gotten worse from there for Big Blue. They enter Friday and head into the weekend at +5.5.

Let’s take a look at who some of the experts and insiders around the league are taking in the Week 5 matchup:

Expert Pick Score (if applicable)
Mike Golic (ESPN) Vikings N/A
Louis Riddick (ESPN) Giants N/A
Trey Wingo (ESPN) Vikings N/A
Pete Prisco (CBS) Vikings 27-17
Jason La Canfora (CBS) Vikings N/A
Ryan Wilson (CBS) Giants N/A
Nate Davis (USA TODAY) Vikings 33-16
Lorenzo Reyes (USA TODAY) Vikings 23-20
Tadd Haislop (Sporting News)  Vikings  27-14
Vinnie Iyer (Sporting News)  Vikings  23-19

Despite winning two consecutive games and the Vikings being consumed with drama, NFL experts have little faith in the Giants going into their Week 5 home game.

As bad as the above panel looks, the collective group of expert picks from around the internet looks even worse. It’s an 80-20 split here and roughly 90-10 elsewhere, so to say the Giants are viewed as substantial underdogs would be an understatement.

Those who were bold enough to plop down a score prediction have the game relatively close with the exception of USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, who expects the Giants to embarrassingly have the doors blown off them in their own building.

What say you, Giants fans? Do you think Big Blue can get over the .500 mark or fall back into the realm of losers at the hands of the Purple People Eaters?
