Giants vs. Patriots Player of the Game: Daniel Jones

New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones secured the first start of his NFL career on Thursday night against the New England Patriots, but it came to a surprisingly quick end.

Jones appeared in just one offensive series, going 4-of-4 for 47 yards but failed to reach the endzone. Rather, his first-ever start ended unceremoniously with back-to-back run stuffs of Paul Perkins to turn the ball over on down.

Still, Jones was impressive in his one series, exhibiting quality footwork in the pocket and excellent timing with his wide receivers on placement routes.

Jones’ best throw came on a 23-yard dime to veteran wide receiver Golden Tate, who was seeing his final action until Week 5 of the regular season.

The door was open for another player to steal Player of the Game, and while defensive lineman R.J. McIntosh and quarterback Kyle Lauletta made a strong cases, Jones gets the nod for another night of perfection, however short-lived it may have been.
