Giants vs. Lions Player of the Game: Daniel Jones

The New York Giants gave a hard-fought effort on the road against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, but were sent to their fourth straight defeat, 31-26, on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Giants drop to 2-6 on the season. Even though the Giants did lose again for the fourth straight time, Daniel Jones gave a very strong effort.

Jones went 28-for-41 with 332 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He did lose a fumble in the game, but he was able to keep the turnovers down with just one.

The first two touchdown passes from Jones were to Darius Slayton, both of which came in the second quarter. The first one was a 22-yard catch and the second was a 28-yard reception.

Jones’ third touchdown came in the third quarter on a short pass to tight end Evan Engram. That score made it 24-19 at the time.

The last one was in the fourth quarter — a four-yard pass from Jones to Saquon Barkley, which cut the lead to 31-26, where the game ended.

Jones also had four carries for 13 yards.

Over the last four games, Jones had thrown seven interceptions, so it was good to see that he had none in the game and really limited the turnovers.

Jones will get his first crack against the Dallas Cowboys next Monday night at MetLife Stadium.
