Giants vs. Jets Player of the Game: Darius Slayton

In the battle for MetLife Stadium — one that takes place every four years — it was the New York Jets who came out victorious for the second straight time.

The Giants came into game looking to end a five-game losing streak, and in the end, they were sent to their sixth straight loss at the hands of the Jets in a 34-27 defeat.

However, in his inaugural season, Darius Slayton continues to be a tremendous bright spot for the Giants offense.

With the Giants trailing 14-0 to the Jets in the second quarter, Slayton caught a five-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Jones and the lead at the time was cut to 14-7.

Later in the quarter, Slayton again caught another touchdown pass from Jones — this one was a 39-yard touchdown strike and it pulled the Giants to within one.

It was the second time this season and second time in three weeks that Slayton had caught two touchdown passes.

Slayton finished with nine catches for 113 yards and the two touchdowns. With Sterling Shepard out and of course, the loss of Odell Beckham Jr. before the start of the season via trade, the Giants have needed someone to step up.

Having Golden Tate has helped, and he has been effective, but Slayton is giving the Giants that deep threat and a player who can score from anywhere on the field if he wants to.
