Giants vs. Cowboys: Week 10 staff picks and predictions

The New York Giants (2-7) will take on the Dallas Cowboys (5-3) this Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium in their 10th game of the 2023 regular season.

Opening the week, the Giants were 15.5-point home underdogs but that has only gotten worse since then and is +17 as of this writing.

How does the Giants Wire staff see this Week 10 battle shaking out? Here’s a look at our picks and score predictions:

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

What is there to say, really? The Giants are a complete and total disaster, they’re starting an undrafted rookie at quarterback, their offensive line is among the worst in football, their receivers don’t produce and several of their most reliable players are on injured reserve. They’re defense also happens to be inconsistent. This could be worse than Week 1 but the Cowboys ultimately take their foot off the gas this time around. It’ll be out of pity.

John Fennelly: Cowboys 31, Giants 10

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Anyone picking the Giants in this game should have their sanity checked. The Cowboys have won 12 of the past 13 meetings and Dak Prescott has won 11 straight against the Giants. Prescott is hot — he has thrown for 300-plus yards in each of the last two weeks — and is coming off a loss to the Eagles, so he won’t get ‘trapped’ here.

The Giants could be in trouble as their offensive line will undergo another iteration this week and face the relentless Dallas pass rush, which has feasted on Big Blue.

Not really much to break down in this one. The Cowboys are a very good team and the Giants are not.

If the Giants want to have any chance in this one they will have to win it on defense by forcing a few turnovers. On offense, Big Blue will need to control the clock in order to limit the amount of Dallas possessions.

Rookie Tommy DeVito will have his hands full with the Dallas pass rush.

This one could get out of reach in a hurry. Buckle up, Giants fans.

As much as I’m rooting for the paisan Tommy DeVito, we also have to be realistic. The Cowboys have been playing as one of the best teams in the NFC while the Giants are getting close to securing a top five pick. The Giants get a touchdown in garbage time, but there’s no reason to think this won’t be a blowout.

Jeevan Kirkland: Cowboys 41, Giants 6

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Giants already have a 40-point loss to the Cowboys once this season and all signs point to this potentially happening again. Without Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor, Tommy DeVito will be tasked to go against one of the league’s premier defenses. To make matters worse, DeVito is surrounded by lackluster weapons (besides Saquon Barkley) and a struggling offensive line.

Getting points on the board will be a struggle and stopping this Cowboys offense may be just as hard as Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb have looked unstoppable over the past three weeks.

The first time these teams met, the Cowboys roasted the Giants 40-0. I know a lot of analysts are predicting a big loss for the Giants, which is to be expected given the circumstances. Still, teams facing seemingly insurmountable odds tend to perform beyond what is expected.

The Giants are no different, and they certainly don’t want a repeat of Week 1. The Cowboys will ultimately walk away with the win because, let’s be real, the Giants are literally on their last legs, but maybe it’s not quite the blowout others are predicting.
