Giants vs. Cowboys Player of the Game: Graham Gano

This was the best chance the New York Giants had all season to win and they let it slip out of their hands.

The Giants gave the Dallas Cowboys an absolute fight at AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon, but even after an all-out brawl, Big Blue came away emptyhanded and dropped to 0-5 with a 37-34 defeat.

Unlike the last two games where the Giants didn’t score a single touchdown, the offense showed a lot of life and did a lot of things well. But, just like the last two games, the Giants most effective player was the place kicker in Graham Gano.

Not only was Gano scoring points for the Giants, but he was flatout drilling field goals at will and making them all look good.

In the second quarter, Gano made an impressive 55-yard field goal that put the Giants up 17-3.

With less than a minute to go in the first half, Gano made another long field goal, this one from 50 yards and put the Giants back up at 20-17.

In the third quarter, Gano made his second-longest field goal of the day, a 54-yarder to cut into the Dallas lead and make it 24-23.

In the fourth quarter, Gano made a chip-shot at 28 yards to make the game 31-26.

Gano is the first ever Giants kicker to make three field goals in a game from 50 yards-plus, as he is showing why he has been such a valuable asset for New York and has been a virtual automatic this season.

Gano is now 13-for-14 on field goals and hasn’t missed one since Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
