Giants-Vikings Week 5: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

The New York Giants saw their modest win streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon against the Minnesota Vikings, who stormed into MetLife Stadium looking to right their own ship and walked away with a 28-10 victory.

The win sent the Giants back to reality a bit, but at the same time was a somewhat encouraging sign for a young rebuilding team. The Giants had their opportunities and fought hard, but in the end, it just wasn’t enough.

Here’s a look at the Week 5 snap counts:

Offensive snaps: 69
Defensive snaps: 71
Special teams snaps: 24

Wayne Gallman leaving the game after six snaps proves just how up against it the Giants were after hanging around in the first quarter. At that point, an entire offensive dimension was lost and they were essentially fighting with one hand tied behind their back.

Defensively, without five key linebackers, it was more of the same. David Mayo received the brunt of the work, taking just shy of 100 percent of the team’s defensive snaps.

On special teams, nothing stood out as unique or different, so allow us to use this space to once again tip the cap to Corey Ballentine for his impressive kick return in Sunday’s game.
