Giants veterans have made rookie Daniel Jones sing twice

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones may be winning over his coaches and teammates, but that doesn’t mean he will be allowed to escape the hazing bestowed upon all incoming rookies — especially highly-touted first rounders.

And while Jones hasn’t been dumped into the cold tub or anything of the sort, he has been forced to sing in front of the entire team. Twice.

Jones admitted on Wednesday that he’s twice been placed in front of the locker-room and told to entertain — singing both “Wagon Wheel” by Darius Rucker and then rapping “Buy U A Drank” by T-Pain.

The rap was much more well-received, Jones acknowledged with a chuckle.

“I haven’t been tortured yet. I had to sing. I had to make sure we had sunflower seed in the quarterback room, and all that kind of stuff. But I haven’t been tortured yet,” Jones said with a laugh. “I’m going to stay on my toes. Definitely stay on my toes.

“[My] singing is not great. I tried. First time I sang “Wagon Wheel” and that didn’t go over great, so I tried “Buy U A Drank” by T-Pain and got a little better response.”

Considering how subdued and quiet Jones is, his teammates must have had a blast watching him attempt to own a room in verse.

But the good news for Big Blue is that Jones is rapidly coming out of his shell, which has been aided by his training camp teammate, fellow rookie Dexter Lawrence.

“[He’s] a little quiet, but I got him to open up more. He’s accepting that I’m his roommate, and I talk a little trash. I asked him, ‘Do you see us in your face all the time?’ He said, ‘No, because you all can’t touch me,’ or something like that. Just a little trash talk,” Lawrence told reporters on Tuesday. “I’m getting him to open up a little more.”
