Giants to host DT Ed Oliver for Top 30 visit

With needs all over the roster, the New York Giants could be eyeing Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who may have solidified his status as a top 10 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The former Houston defensive lineman Ed Oliver blew up his pro day on Thursday, running a 4.71 40-yard dash and logging in a remarkable time of 4.19 seconds in the short shuttle.

He will also reportedly take a top 30 visit with the Giants before the draft, per Art Stapleton of The Record. He met with Big Blue at the NFL combine.

Oliver, two has been compared to two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year bass on his smaller size and athleticism, has not been rumored to be on the New York Giants’ radar but it appears they are showing some interest.

Oliver is not getting a lot of love from prognosticators as the NFL Draft nears. He was once thought to be a lock to be a top-five selection but many have bumped him down to the middle of the first round the past few weeks.

That may all change now that Oliver (6’3″, 287) has reminded them just how special an athlete he is at his pro day.

Oliver, a first-team All-American in each of the last three years, projects to be an interior lineman at the next level but teams may opt to leverage his abilities and play him in roles in the front seven.
