Giants take Tristan Wirfs in PFF’s 2020 NFL re-draft

If the New York Giants could do things all over again in the 2020 NFL draft, they would probably go with a different offensive lineman than Andrew Thomas with the No. 4 overall pick.

Of course, it’s way too early to call Thomas a bust at this point in his young career, but the early returns haven’t been good. Through 10 games, Thomas has posted an overall Pro Football Focus grade of 59.4 and been nothing short of a disappointment.

Pro Football Focus’ Mike Renner recently did a re-draft of the 2020 class and pegged Tampa Bay Buccaneers tackle Tristan Wirfs to the Giants instead.

Through 10 games of his rookie campaign, Wirfs has looked every bit the part of a top-five pick, making him quite the steal for the Bucs, who drafted the tackle at No. 13 overall. Wirfs has posted a sensational 78.0 overall PFF grade.

A grand total of three of the tackles that were selected after Thomas make Renner’s top 10, and each of them have a higher PFF grade than the Giants lineman.

Renner has Wirfs (78.0), Mekhi Becton (68.5) and Jedrick Wills Jr. (60.1) all coming off the board before Thomas. That is not exactly a shining review of where things stand with the rookie at this early stage in his career.
