New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch has been a proponent of free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick and believes he still has an NFL future, but like many others, he was left scratching his head after Kap’s Atlanta was abruptly moved and subsequently fell apart.
“I hope there’s a briefing on that [at the owner’s meetings],” Tisch said, via Daniel Kaplan of The Athletic. “I think it would be great for full ownership to get a sense of what happened down there.
“I just felt, you know, what happened in Atlanta was unfortunate. It didn’t seem to be very well organized. And I just — I don’t know how it all sort of fell apart.”
But Tisch didn’t just express a frustration with the NFL’s hasty nature in setting the workout up, but also a frustration with Kaepernick himself, who the Giants co-owner seemed to peg as unappreciative.
“Certain things, you know, no good deed goes unpunished and this may fall under that category,” Tisch said.
Kaepernick has drawn literally zero interest in the aftermath of his workout, even by other football entities like the XFL. However, some of his workout partners have found themselves on the radar of NFL clubs, with wide receiver Jordan Veasy even signing with the Washington Redskins.
Whether or not Tisch gets his wish and the Kaepernick workout is discussed at the upcoming owner’s meetings remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say the entire situation was bungled and Kap is no closer to getting a job as a result.
