Giants’ Steve Tisch: Robert Kraft’s apology came from the heart

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has at least one fellow owner in his corner after being arrested and charged with soliciting a prostitute at a massage parlor in Florida.

For the first time since being arrested, Kraft released a statement expressing his remorse for his involvement in the prostitution sting, which also uncovered human trafficking.

“I would like to use this opportunity to say something that I have wanted to say for four weeks. I am truly sorry. I know I have hurt and disappointed my family, my close friends, my co-workers, our fans and many others who rightfully hold me to a higher standard,” Kraft said earlier this week.

On Sunday, New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch showed some support for the 77-year-old Patriots owner, according to Tom Rock of Newsday.

“I think what Robert said yesterday very publicly, I think it came from his heart,” Tisch said. “I think he was really addressing his family, his team, his players, his friends and Patriots fans. And, I think, in some ways, 31 other team owners. It’s probably very, very tough for him to make those statements.”

While Tisch was willing to show his support, John Mara wasn’t going down that same path. Clearly the Giants’ owners weren’t on the same page.

“What good could possibly come out of commenting on that,” Mara questioned previously.

Mara also poked his co-owner a bit following Tisch’s comment on Kraft’s apology.

“I guess you didn’t take my lead on the no-comment,” Mara joked.

Kraft has already plead not guilty to two counts of soliciting a prostitute, but police have stated that there is surveillance footage to prove it. If found guilty, Kraft could face up to one year in prison.
