Giants’ Steve Tisch on potential Eli Manning return: ‘Everything’s up in the air’

New York Giants co-owner John Mara is open to Eli Manning returning in 2020, whether that comes as a quarterback, coach or some other form of executive within the organization. In fact, he even admits to sitting down with Manning to discuss his future at length.

“No, I haven’t closed any doors on [Manning returning to the Giants],” Mara said on WFAN’s Moose & Maggie last Friday. “Eli came to see me a few days ago, and we had a nice long talk. But I don’t think he’s fully decided yet what he wants to do. And I told him to just take his time, think about it some more and then come back and see me again.

“I’ve mentioned to him the possibility of thinking about other roles in the organization, and he’s just undecided right now. The season just ended recently, and he needs to take some more time and think about it. And I told him there’s no time limit on that. We’ll talk whenever he’s ready to sit down and talk again.”

Mara’s fellow co-owner, Steve Tisch, recently seemed less inclined to bring Manning back in any role, simply telling TMZ Sports that no final decisions have been made.

“Everything’s up in the air,” Tisch said, refusing to answer whether or not he’d like to see Manning back.

As far as the 2020 NFL Draft, Tisch admits he has no say over which players are selected and then seemed to imply head coach Joe Judge, not general manager Dave Gettleman, will have the final say.

“That’s not up to me,” Tisch said when asked about the Draft. “I totally trust our new head coach.”

Tisch is not a rookie when it comes to TMZ interviews, but his short answers to their many questions seemed a little stranger than normal this time around.
