Giants’ Sterling Shepard back in concussion protocol, Saquon Barkley nearing return

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard had his bell rung in a 28-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon, but returned to the game after a brief evaluation.

“I didn’t really have a reaction [when they pulled me out of the game]. Just whatever they say for me to do and then go back out there,” Shepard told reporters after the loss, adding that he felt fine.

Unfortunately for Shepard and the Giants, concussion-like symptoms presented themselves on Monday and the wide receiver has been placed back in concussion protocol.

Shepard had previously missed a Week 4 game against the Washington Redskins due to a concussion.

Although the team did not practice on Monday, instead holding a walkthrough, Shepard was a projected non-participant. Running back Wayne Gallman was also a projected non-participant after suffering a concussion of his own on Sunday.

Below is the team’s full injury report (projected):

Did not practice: Evan Engram (knee), Sterling Shepard (concussion), Wayne Gallman (concussion)

Limited participant: Saquon Barkley (ankle), Lorenzo Carter (neck), Alec Ogletree (hamstring), Nate Solder (ankle), Josiah Tauaefa (knee)

Full participant: Tae Davis (concussion)
