Giants slide slightly in latest USA TODAY power rankings

The New York Giants fell to the New England Patriots in Week 6, but they put up much more of a fight than many anticipated, holding the game within seven points until under 8:00 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The moral victory did little for the Giants, who expressed disappointment in the loss, and to some degree, USA TODAY agrees.

In the latest edition of the USA TODAY power rankings ahead of the Week 7 slate of action, they dropped the Giants one spot to No. 25 overall, but gave Big Blue some kudos for holding tough against the dynasty Patriots.

Even while severely undermanned, they gave Pats all they could handle for three quarters. One game back, don’t count G-Men out of NFC East race.

Comparatively, the Washington Redskins rose one spot to No. 30 overall following their first win of the season, while the Dallas Cowboys dropped six spots to No. 19 overall and the Philadelphia Eagles dropped four spots to No. 11 overall.

The New York Jets, in the event anyone reading this cares, rose three spots to No. 27 overall.

The New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins remain in place at No. 1 overall and No. 32 overall, respectively.
