Giants sign draft picks Ryan Connelly and Darius Slayton, re-sign John Jenkins

The New York Giants announced a slew of roster moves on Monday, including the return of veteran defensive tackle John Jenkins.

Jenkins was originally a third-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in the 2013 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears before joining the Giants last year.

In 56 career games, the 6-foot-3, 359-pound Jenkins has recorded 121 tackles (67 solo), eight stuffs, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two passes defensed.

Meanwhile, the Giants also signed two of their picks from the 2019 NFL Draft, bringing the total under contract to five.

Both linebacker Ryan Connelly and wide receiver Darius Slayton were fifth-round draft picks in April, but the two had very different results at the team’s recent rookie minicamp.

While Connelly opened eyes across the board, Slayton started slow and had an issue with drops before rebounding late.

In addition to Connelly and Slayton, the Giants have also signed right tackle George Asafo-Adjei, defensive tackle Chris Slayton and defensive back Julian Love.

Quarterback Daniel Jones, defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence, cornerback DeAndre Baker, edge rusher Oshane Ximines and defensive back Corey Ballentine remain unsigned.
