Giants select George Asafo-Adjei with 232nd overall pick in 2019 NFL Draft

The New York Giants have selected Kentucky offensive tackle George Asafo-Adjei with the 232nd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

After spending much of their draft focus on defenders, the Giants finally caved in and address their offensive line with the selection of Asafo-Adjei.

Background

A Bronx, New York native, Asafo-Adjei grew up in West Chester, Ohio where he attended Lakota West High School and played both offensive and defensive line. He was named First-team All-Southwest Ohio in both 2013 and 2014, and was the 21st-ranked prospect coming out of Ohio.

Asafo-Adjei joined Kentucky in 2015 and went on to appear in 48 games, drawing praise from his coaches for a relentless motor, quality worth ethic and his continued development. He was a Two-time SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week in 2018.

How does Asafo-Adjei fit in with the Giants?

Asafo-Adjei is a potential long-shot to make the Giants’ 53-man roster, but given his size, willingness to be coaches and desire to improve, he could potentially earn himself a spot on the team’s practice squad.

With issues at right tackle, the Giants are a solid fit for Asafo-Adjei if he can hang on long-term. However, for the time being, he’s a project with decent upside.
