Giants select Colorado WR Laviska Shenault in Draft Wire’s 2020 mock

The 2019 NFL Draft is freshly buried, but already we’re beginning to look ahead. And after an intense three days of work, our friends over at Draft Wire have decided to forego sleep and, instead, present us with their first 2020 NFL mock draft.

For the New York Giants, they are projected to pick at No. 10 overall, which would imply a modest improvement over their 5-11 record in 2018. That record, of course, led them to select at No. 6 overall.

So, which direction does Draft Wire have Big Blue going in 2020? It’s all about those wide receivers and finding an Odell Beckham Jr. replacement for quarterback Daniel Jones.

10. New York Giants
Laviska Shenault | WR | Colorado

Shenault was one of the best receivers in the country in 2018, finishing the season with 86 receptions for 1,011 yards and six touchdowns, adding 115 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Midway through the 2018 season, Pro Football Focus recognized a superstar was being born.

Colorado’s Laviska Shenault Jr. has transformed from a relatively unknown, unproven commodity into arguably the nation’s top wide receiver (91.9 overall PFF grade, first among all FBS wide receivers). An unheralded three-star recruit from Texas, Shenault Jr. flashed with a 91.1 overall PFF grade as a true freshman last season, yet he was only on the field for a mere 44 offensive snaps.

The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound sophomore’s evolution into a bona fide game breaker has emphatically launched into hyperdrive in 2018.

Depending on how things shake out in 2019, Shenault is a potentially logical target for the Giants as they look to surround Jones with as many play-makers as possible.
