Saquon Barkley has replaced Odell Beckham Jr. as the face of the New York Giants franchise following and offseason trade that sent the superstar wide receiver to the Cleveland Browns, but that’s not the only role Barkley will step into.
With Beckham now rotating between Los Angeles and Cleveland, Barkley has assumed control of Odell’s annual football camp held in Clark, New Jersey.
“We’re excited to have him,” Pro Camps vice president of camper sales and market Matt Chacksfield told NJ Advance Media. “He will be very well received.”
The camp, previously named the Citi Odell Beckham Jr. Football ProCamp, was announced in February and slated to be held on June 15-16 at Arthur L. Johnson High School. In addition to a re-brand, which included removing registration from OBJCamp.com, the camp has been rescheduled for June 1-2.
Anyone who was pre-registered for the Beckham camp, which teached football fundamental to aspiring athletes, are guaranteed a spot at the Barkley camp.
“We’ve been existence since 1998 and run probably thousands of camps at this point,” Chacksfield said. “We probably go through one or two (similar situations) per year and this is our typical practice. We’ll try to find a suitable replacement and let the customers decide. In this instance, we feel pretty good about it.”
For anyone who was pre-registered for the Beckham camp but can not attend the Barkley camp will be given full refunds.
