Giants’ Saquon Barkley now have to deal with Landon Collins twice a year

When the 2019 NFL schedule is released, you can bet that ex-New York Giant and soon-to-be Washington Redskins safety Landon Collins will circle the dates of those NFC East battles.

Collins and the Redskins reportedly agreed to terms on a six-year deal worth $84 million Monday during the NFL’s legal tampering period.

The Giants will now have to play against the three-time Pro Bowler twice a year moving forward, which is a double loss for New York, who now has another gaping hole on a defense devoid of big-time play-makers.

However, the Giants may also be looking forward to the matchup against Washington, as pass coverage has been the biggest weakness in Collins’ game. Having Collins in one-on-one coverage against Evan Engram or Saquon Barkley would give the Giants a significant edge in the mismatch.

The matchup between the Redskins and Giants will certainly gain some juice for years to come. With Collins’ move over to Washington, the rivalry between Odell Beckham Jr. and Josh Norman may also rekindle.

Norman took to twitter to take a shot at the Giants and General Manager Dave Gettleman on Monday.

The amount of money Collins got in the deal with Washington may come as a shock to some, but the fact that the Redskins were able to steal talent from the Giants likely made them willing to sign him to the mega deal.

If nothing else, it certainly makes the Giants-Redskins rivalry that much more interesting.
