Giants’ Saquon Barkley leaves Bucs game with ankle injury

New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley was assisted by the team’s medical staff to the locker room with an apparent ankle injury after catching a pass from quarterback Daniel Jones with 3:27 left in the first half in Tampa on Sunday afternoon.

The Giants officially listed Barkley’s return as questionable.

Dr. David Chao, a former NFL team doctor, chimed in shortly after the injury and suggested it looked like a high ankle sprain, which would sideline Barkley for a significant amount of time.

It was a tough day for Barkley even before the ankle injury, having had his neck crunched on a powerful blow in the first quarter, which sent him to the tend for a concussion evaluation.

Barkley has gained just 10 yards on eight carries for the game and has a dropped pass.
