Giants’ Saquon Barkley feels disrespected by ‘Madden NFL 20’ rating

EA Sports officially revealed player ratings for “Madden NFL 20” on Monday and in the much-anticipated aftermath, there were a lot of guys across the league who felt disrespected.

Despite his rating of 91, which led the New York Giants, running back Saquon Barkley was among them.

Not only was Barkley displeased with the 91 overall rating and the fact that he was rated as the fifth-best running back in the league, but he also took issue with several other sub-ratings, including Awareness (79), Strength (81) and Carrying (95).

“The strength (rating) is disrespectful,” Barkley said. “An 81 is crazy. And, uhh — I had zero fumbles last year, so it should be 99, right?”

Considering Barkley had zero fumbles a season ago, logic would dictate a 99 in carrying. Moreover, Barkley is one of the strongest backs in the league and has prided himself on his lower body strength, even landing the nickname “SaQuads,” so the 81 strength is comical.

But Madden didn’t just stop with Barkley. They had Eli Manning rated below 34 other quarterbacks, including Teddy Bridgewater, who has thrown just 25 passes over the past two seasons.

Needless to say, if Barkley & Co. needed any additional motivation, they found a sliver thanks to EA Sports and some truly horrendous ratings.
