Giants’ Saquon Barkley dropping hints that he’s ready to return

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley went down with what was deemed a high ankle sprain in a Week 3 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And at the time, it was suggested that the superstar could miss upwards of eight weeks.

Just shy of four weeks have now come and gone, and Barkley very nearly returned in Week 6 against the New England Patriots, but the short turnaround prevented him from taking the field.

In Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals however, on the heels of 10 days of additional rest, Barkley appears destined to make his on-field return. In fact, he’s pretty much laying that out on Twitter.

Check it out:

All told, Barkley will have missed just about a month of football, which was the low-end of his recovery timetable, originally set at four-to-eight weeks. And while Barkley likely could have played against the Patriots, the Giants opted not to risk any sort of setback.

Barkley will now return healthy and finally get to experience life with Daniel Jones as his quarterback — after all, the two have shared a grand total of just 26 snaps to date.

Getting Barkley back is a big win for the Giants, especially headed into a game in which they are early favorites. After that, things get a little more difficult and it will benefit the offense to have Barkley back in the fold.
